Man, it’s been a bloody long week round here. After the unpleasantness of last week, and all the crap that’s happened, Caroline, Tom and I decided last minute to take a road trip to Galway to do some cycling and chilling out. A quick post on boards.ie netted us a bike rack for Caroline’s car, and we loaded up and set off on Saturday morning.
After a whole 12km, while stopped at some traffic lights -the guy behind us decides to launch a karma attack on Al, and ploughs into the back of us, breaking Caroline’s lil car, and totalling our bikes. Cue much swapping of details and usual post accident shennanigans before calling for the Joe shaped cavalry to get the bikes back to Mulhuddart.
Rest of Saturday was spent trying not to think of stuff, and involved some shopping and hanging around, with much conversations of “thank god no one was hurt” and “we should get some money for the bikes”
Sunday was spent out on a long hilly spin, including a climb up to the Kippure transmitter -a bloody hard climb, but worth it for the view from the top. Did about 140km altogether, and it was a pretty good day, albeit with the though of the previous day hanging over us.
This morning brought good news in the form of Suzanne from FBD -quick phonecall later, and 700quid on it’s way to replace the broken bike -and the other two got similar amounts, so as said before, a slight silver lining
